Best Garments & Fabrics for Embossing

THE FABRICS WE SAY YES TO
A great emboss starts before the press ever turns on. The garment has to have enough weight, structure, and cotton content to actually hold the shape.
That’s why we’re picky. Heavyweight hoodies, crewnecks, and substantial tees usually emboss beautifully. Thin or synthetic-heavy fabrics tend to bounce back, soften the edges, and make a good logo look a little sad.
we’d rather say no than make it wrong
If you already have a garment in mind, send us the brand and style number. We’ll give you a straight yes or no. And if it’s a no, we’ll help you find the closest option that will actually make your logo look good.

WHAT MAKES A GARMENT EMBOSS WELL?
Not every garment can hold a clean, deep impression. These are the three things we check before it goes anywhere near the press.
Stick with 75% cotton or more. Cotton fibers take the pressed shape and keep it. Blends below 75% don’t hold the design as well, so we don’t press them.
Heavier fabric makes a deeper impression. For T-shirts, that means 6 oz or heavier. For hoodies and crewneck sweatshirts, look for 8.5 oz or heavier.
When in doubt, ask us. Send us the garment’s brand and model and we’ll give you a straight yes or no. If it won’t work, we’ll point you toward the closest option that will press beautifully.
Minimums. Turnaround. No Surprises.
Competitors make you dig for this stuff. We’d rather just say it: the minimum is 48 pieces and turnaround is 4 weeks. Every job gets a custom quote, because a big logo on 48 hoodies and a small mark on 500 tees are different animals. No games, no fine print, no mystery.
some fabrics just emboss better
THE GARMENT LINEUP, RANKED
The right fabric gives the design something to hold onto. Here’s what works best.
Heavyweight hoodies and sweatshirt fleece are the gold standard. Thick, soft, cotton-rich fleece creates the deepest, most dramatic impression. It’s why custom embossed hoodies are our most requested pieces.
Heavyweight cotton tees give you a cleaner, subtler look. At 6 oz and up, cotton holds a sharp chest logo without trying to look like a sweatshirt. See our embossed heavyweight tees.
Cotton-rich blends can work too. Start at 75% cotton. The closer the fabric gets to all-cotton, the crisper the result. The cotton does the heavy lifting here.

we’re picky for a reason
WHAT WE WON’T EMBOSS
Some garments simply can’t hold a clean impression. We’ll tell you before you spend a dollar.
Blends under 75% cotton. Without enough cotton, the fabric springs back after pressing and the logo loses its shape.
Lightweight fabrics. Thin material doesn’t have enough structure to hold the design, leaving it soft and blurry instead of crisp.
Hats of any kind. We can’t emboss them, no matter what someone on the internet promises.
A no doesn’t mean you’re out of options. We’ll usually recommend a garment that qualifies or point you toward screen printing or embroidery, which we also handle in-house. You can also compare all three methods.

F.A.Q.
Still curious? Start here.
Can you emboss polyester?
If it’s mostly polyester, no. Synthetic-heavy fabric doesn’t hold a pressed shape the way cotton does. Our line is 75% cotton or more, and we hold it because your logo deserves crisp edges.
What weight should I look for on the spec sheet?
Tees: 6 oz per square yard or heavier. Hoodies and crews: 8.5 oz or heavier. If the product page brags about being “lightweight,” it’s not for embossing.
I love a specific garment. Will it work?
Send us the brand and model and we’ll check it against our rules and give you a straight answer, usually with an alternative if it misses. Start With Our Embossing Team
Do you do debossing too?
Yep. Embossing raises the artwork out of the fabric, while debossing presses the artwork down into it. They create two very different looks, and depending on your logo and the garment, one may work better than the other. If you’re not sure which direction to go, we can help you figure it out.
Can I feel it before I commit?
That’s the whole point of our free sample. If you’re planning 48 pieces or more, we’ll mail you a premade embossed piece so your fingers can make the decision.
